What the service does

Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PATS) supports people who travel for treatment in Tasmania. It helps pay for travel and accommodation costs. It is for people who live in regional or remote areas. Patients must travel more than 75 km from home to the nearest clinic. Patients can also qualify if they travel more than 50 km one way or 150 km over a 4-week period for cancer or dialysis treatment. A doctor must confirm the treatment and need for travel as part of the application. People must meet certain criteria to access this scheme.
