What the service does

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) helps people who cannot pay their debts. People can get information about bankruptcy (a legal process for people who cannot pay their debts), debt agreements (formal arrangements to repay debts) and other options for managing serious money problems. AFSA manages Australia's personal insolvency system (formal options available to people who cannot pay their debts), including bankruptcy applications and debt agreements. The service can explain how these options work and what the possible impacts may be.
