What the organisation does

Cancer Council ACT supports people affected by cancer in the Australian Capital Territory. This includes carers, family members and friends. Services include cancer information, emotional support, counselling, wellbeing programs and financial help. Most services are free. If a service costs money, financial help may be available for people who need it. Some services are only for people who meet certain criteria.

It helps with concerns related to cancer. This includes relationships and family, anxiety and depression and grief and loss. The service is for adults aged 18 and over. People can use this service if they live in the Australian Capital Territory or are travelling to the Australian Capital Territory for cancer treatment or cancer specialist care.

Cancer Carer Support Program

The Cancer Carer Support Program supports carers in the Australian Capital Territory. It is for people aged 18 and over who provide unpaid care and support to someone with a cancer diagnosis. The program matches each carer with a Supportive Care Team member. The carer works one‑on‑one with this team member to create a shared support plan. This support plan helps carers organise their own care and support needs.

ENHANCE Wellbeing

ENHANCE Wellbeing programs support people affected by cancer in the ACT. The program offers wellbeing and healthy lifestyle sessions that aim to improve overall health and wellbeing. It is for people who are affected by cancer and for their carers. Activities include mindfulness, board games, coffee catch-ups, walks, yoga and other activities. People need to register before attending a session.
